Turquoise

As a talisman of kings, shamans, and warriors, turquoise resonates with power, luck, wisdom, and peace. Turquoise is highly regarded by many Native Americans, who carve it into the shapes of animals and birds. These carvings were placed in graves as a means of luring good spirits and guarding the departed. Turquoise was used as a medicinal stone by the indigenous people. In Iran, turquoise is known as "Ferozah," the nation's state gem and a symbol of victory.  It has been mined for more than 5000 years in Iran. Persian legend states seeing the new moon's reflection, either on the face of a friend or on a turquoise item, is said to ward off evil and bring good fortune.
