Om Mani Padme Hum

Om Mani Padme Hum, a Sanskrit mantra, means to "praise the jewel in the lotus." This mantra is practiced as a natural means of purging oneself of uncomfortable emotions. Each syllable is believed to accomplish: OM frees you from pride, MA frees you from jealousy, NI frees you from desire, PA frees you from ignorance, DME frees you from greed, and HUM frees you from aversion.
