In the early days of Mesopotamia, Red, and Green Jasper were all the rage. It's stated that poppy jasper aids in spreading happiness. It is thought that Opalite Jasper promotes sleep. According to legend, Jasper would ward off bad spirits and protect from snake and spider bites. It was believed to cause rain in the fourth century.
