Lion and the Sun (Shiro Khorshid)
The Zoroastrian Achaemenid dynasty, which existed 2,400 years ago, is when the Lion and Sun first appeared. A lion clutching a sword in one paw and gazing to its left is depicted in the lion and sun motif, which also has the sun's rays blazing behind it. The lion and sun emblem is seen in many civilizations, but it holds a unique importance in Persia, modern-day Iran. It was a representation of sovereignty and heavenly might in prehistoric Iran. The Lion, the king of all animals, stood for strength and majesty. The ancient Iranian deity of light Mithra was allied with the Sun.
